A total of 105 students from Primary Schools and 105 students at University of Extremadura wrote a narrative text. After that, the quality of intro- duction on each story was analyzed according to 12 criteria of evaluation about content, spelling and vocabulary richness of the text. Some of these criteria, belong to a standardized test (PROESC) and, others, are from a rubric for assessing the quality of narrative text. The results show that in Primary Education, girls were significantly better than children in writing the introduction of the story and, more specifically, in regard to physical and psychological description of the characters, but these differences were not demonstrated in texts produced by university students. In addition, we observed that, in Primary Education, children made fewer spelling mistakes in the phrase \u00abonce upon a time\u00bb than girls; also, they used a richer vocabulary than girls to indicate the time in which the story took place. This trend of results in spelling in favor of men changed at University, but they main- tained a better semantic level than women.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Keywords<\/b>: Creative writing, Evaluation, Primary education, Sex distribution, university.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RESUMO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En esta investigaci\u00f3n se pretend\u00eda explorar la existencia de diferencias de g\u00e9nero en la cali- dad de redacci\u00f3n del inicio de los textos narrativos, desde los inicios hasta las \u00faltimas etapas de la \u00a0adolescencia. \u00a0Un \u00a0total \u00a0de \u00a0105 \u00a0alumnos \u00a0de \u00a0centros \u00a0de \u00a0Educaci\u00f3n \u00a0Primaria \u00a0y \u00a0105 \u00a0de \u00a0la introducci\u00f3n de cada cuento fue analizada seg\u00fan 12 criterios de evaluaci\u00f3n que versan sobre el con- tenido, la ortograf\u00eda y riqueza de vocabulario del texto. Algunos de estos criterios, pertenecen a una prueba estandarizada (PROESC) y, otros, a una r\u00fabrica de evaluaci\u00f3n de narraciones. Los resultados muestran que en Primaria, las ni\u00f1as fueron significativamente mejores que los ni\u00f1os en la redacci\u00f3n de la introducci\u00f3n del cuento y, m\u00e1s concretamente, en lo que se refiere a la des- cripci\u00f3n f\u00edsica y psicol\u00f3gica de los personajes; sin embargo, estas diferencias no se manifesta- ron en la etapa universitaria. Adem\u00e1s, se observ\u00f3 que, en Primaria, los ni\u00f1os cometieron menos faltas de ortograf\u00eda en la expresi\u00f3n \u201c\u00e9rase una vez\u201d y presentaron una mayor riqueza de voca- bulario que las ni\u00f1as al utilizar expresiones m\u00e1s variadas para indicar el momento en el que ocu- rri\u00f3 el cuento.
