Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n

Objective:<\/strong> To articulate the quality of parental investment towards children by mothers who\u00a0experienced a preterm delivery with their memories of relations established with their parental figures
\nduring childhood.
\nInstruments:<\/strong> Sociodemographic and Clinical Questionnaire, Satisfaction with Social Support\u00a0Scale, Satisfaction in Areas of Married Life Scale, Parental Bonding Instrument and the Parental\u00a0Investment in Child Scale.
\nHypotheses:<\/strong> Four hypotheses were tested relating Satisfaction with Social Support, Marital\u00a0Satisfaction, Parental Care and Overprotection to (H1) Acceptation of Parental Role, to (H2) Pleasure\u00a0Concerning the Parental Role Performance, to (H3) Knowledge and Sensitivity while Facing Children
\nNeeds and to (H4) Total Parental Investment.
\nResults:<\/strong> Hypotheses H1, H2 and H4 were partially confirmed, with a particularly important contribution\u00a0from memories related to father\u2019s overprotection. H3 was not confirmed but showed that
\nobstetrical variables play a very important role in this area.
\nConclusion:<\/strong> Data obtained showed that memories related to care received during childhood\u00a0appear to influence the quality of parental investment in children born pre-term.
