Participants were\u00a031 students (46% boys, 54% girls) with a mean age of 5, and their parents. Children were administered\u00a0RAN and BIL tests and parents a questionnaire prepared ad hoc gathering information about\u00a0reading habits and time spent on activities related to reading. The results showed positives relations\u00a0between the naming speed and the time that children spend reading during the week, the weekend\u00a0and on holidays, and the participation in story telling activities. It also highlighted a link between\u00a0RAN and phonological awareness. Conclusions confirm the importance of family reading habits in\u00a0the development of the skills involved in reading learning process.<br \/>\n<strong>Keywords:<\/strong> reading habits, naming
